DIGITAL PHOTO BOOT CAMP

This workshop starts with camera and ends with the computer.  This is great course for novices or folks who want a thorough review of the digital photography process.  Regardless if you have a point and shoot or digital SLR, this workshop is all about the basics.

In this boot camp session we will introduce our students to digital camera technology and how to use it creatively. Good photography is the product of knowledge and technique.  This workshop presents a step by step creative process with practical skill building exercises.

We begin with the camera-covering camera controls, optics and basic shooting techniques with an emphasis on skills like focus control and exposure.  We will dig into the digital camera “tool box” and learn how to put this technology to work.  You learn how different camera features and controls change how your photos look.  We will work with camera operations during the practice exercises and   learn the basics of composing a good image and available light photography.

Once we complete the overview of the camera and basic photography we will move on to using the computer as our digital darkroom.   File formats, data management, digital workflow and basic photo editing can be confusing and this portion of the workshop will help you get a handle on the technology.

This is a full day of photography education and we will cover a lot of ground.  You will be provided a workshop study guide to help you follow the program.  The study guide includes practice exercises that you can use after the workshop to continue building your photographic skills.

What you need for this workshop

Please bring your camera and owner’s manual to this session.  Make sure you have charged batteries and memory cards for the practice shooting exercises.  You will be using your camera during the session

 Make sure you have and notebook and pen – this day is full of information and you definitely will want to take notes
